Why is my Eftpos asking for a signature on each transaction?
The terminal is offline (and may be in electronic offline voucher (EOV) mode), check your broadband connection.
What is Offline or EOV (electronic offline voucher) mode?
What happens when we change from ADSL/copper Broadband to fibre?Electronic Offline Voucher (EOV) is a backup which allows merchants to store transactions in offline mode should your connection to the network become unavailable. These transactions are then processed once the connection to the network is restored.
There is no need to do anything, but if you change your provider and get a new router, you may need to rescan the Wi-Fi to connect.
How can I reduce my Merchant Fees?

What is PCI-PED Compliance?
The Eftpos hardware version is set by the PCI Security Standards Council and Payments New Zealand have stipulated dates for New Zealand terminals.
All Eftpos terminals must operate with the latest mandatory security standards to reduce the risk of fraud.
The governing bodies of PCI Security Standards Council, banking and credit card companies, and you (as the merchant) are required to meet the obligation to keep payment systems fast, efficient and above all – secure. Refer to Payments NZ.
What is a Tamper?
A Tamper is a security alert and part of the internal system designed to protect the Eftpos sensitive data. Other events such as impact, liquid ingress, unstable power or interrupted software updates, can trigger a Tamper. The Eftpos needs to be sent for repair.
How Does Surcharging Work?
You can add a surcharge to contactless and credit card transactions. This is applied at the time of payment. The surcharge fee should be based on your average merchant service fee, as per guidance from the Commerce Commission, e.g. if your average merchant service fee is 1.4%, your surcharge fee should be no more than 1.4%. Refer to the Commerce Commission.
What is a Multi Merchant?
An Eftpos can have eight different merchant ID's and is common in surgeries, dentist clinics or any business with multiple people with different bank accounts, taking payments individually.
